One of the main goals of our annual End Social Isolation and Loneliness Action Forum is to spur nationwide organizational commitments to action.
Each year, we aim to engage more stakeholders and inspire more commitments. In 2022, we were proud to highlight sixteen commitments from our friends at Humana, UnitedHealthcare, the AARP Foundation, ACTNow for Mental Health, Peoplehood, Wider Circle, The Motion Picture & Television Fund, DOROT, USAging, Building H, the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation, NeverTechLate, and Visible Network Labs!
For Outstanding Leadership in Community-Based Efforts to Reduce Social Isolation and Loneliness
Congratulations to the inaugural awardee, Marie Jobling, Founder & Co-Executive Director of Community Living Campaign (CLC). Marie works to bring greater joy, health, and connectedness to seniors and people with disabilities through community-building, empowerment, and advocacy. On behalf of the Foundation for Social Connection (F4SC) and the Coalition to End Social Isolation & Loneliness (CESIL), we thank Marie for carrying on Marcia’s legacy and fostering social connection in her community.
In the first of our two innovations-focused sessions, we hear from creators at the forefront of groundbreaking innovations and will dive into several of the new and exciting solutions designed to directly address social isolation, loneliness, and/or social connection. These entrepreneurs are part of our Evidence + Innovation Hub.
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) maintains the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), a comprehensive set of quality measures to assess health plan quality performance. In this session, NCQA presents how they seek to leverage HEDIS to advance health equity through the development of new measures focused on social factors which can contribute to poor health outcomes.
This session explores the landscape of philanthropic efforts to reduce social isolation and loneliness and strengthen connection, from a local level all the way up to a global stage. Philanthropy plays an important role in the world of social health and activism, and we hear directly from some of the impassioned advocates who are leading the charge to a more socially connected future.
Significant contributions to the Action Forum made by Coalition to End Social Isolation and Loneliness Steering Committee Members:
2021 Action Forum
In 2021, the Foundation focused on raising awareness for the global crisis of connection, advocating for national policies, and activating local leaders to affect change in their communities. Audience members learned about efforts made by various levels of government, the role of technology in these efforts, the business and public health case for greater social connection. The event concluded with the announcement of organization-wide commitments to action.
2020 Action Forum
In 2020, the Action Forum convened our Scientific Leadership Council, federal leaders, community organizations, and international partners to increase the visibility of the social isolation and loneliness crisis. The event identified key innovations and inspired commitments to action to overcome social isolation and loneliness.
